The Office of Public Works (OPW) has responsibility for the day-to-day running of all National Monuments, Historic Properties, Parks, Public Gardens and Inland Waterways. There are a number of sites of national importance in Galway including Athenry Abbey, Augnanure Castle, Connemara National Park, Coole Park, Dun Aonghasa and Portumna Castle & Gardens.
